Steve Balderson's film "Alchemy of the Spirit" was nominated for Best International Feature at Fantasporto. His previous films include "Firecracker", which received a Special Jury Award from Roger Ebert, and "Peep Squad", a 90s cult classic.

Balderson's work has been recognized by various institutions, including the U.S. Library of Congress, which selected his film "The Casserole Club" for its permanent collection. He ranks #47 on IMDb's Top 100 Gay and Lesbian directors.
