Hakim Hill was named by his Trinidadian mother to avoid nicknames, but he started using the stage name Kimo instead when performing poetry in Boston. In higher education, he wrote and produced award-winning horror and drama shorts addressing racial trauma. After moving to LA, Kimo participated in writing programs with Leah Daniels-Butler and 1oneninety5 Productions before being selected for NBC's Writers on the Verge and Yes And... Laughter Lab.
