Deniz Hughes is a Fulbright scholar and renowned champion of film composers, having fostered the careers of over 100 composers, some to great acclaim. She earned her doctorate in music composition from Yale and studied with John Corigliano and Virgil Thomson. Her music has been featured in film, TV, theater, and dance, and she has worked with orchestrator Elliot Goldenthal. She has lectured extensively in the US and abroad, and taught at Lehman College for 20+ years on behalf of John Corigliano. Her Facebook group For Film Composers Only has nearly 6,000 members from over 30 countries, and her online materials have been used in classes at Berklee and San Francisco Conservatory. Deniz continues to advocate for the film scoring industry and provide support to composers through her composer management services.
