Alexandra (Alle) Hsu is a Chinese-American director/producer born and raised in Southern California. She earned an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in Film Directing and Production, and a BA from Scripps College, double majoring in Media Studies and Asian Studies.

Her undergraduate thesis documentary was part of Pomona College Museum of Art’s “China Insights” Exhibit and received a museum grant in 2011. Alle co-wrote, directed, and produced the short film SOPHIE in Hong Kong, which premiered at Austin Film Festival and Foyle FF. She also directed OUR WAY HOME, which premiered at HollyShorts FF in 2018.

Alle is starting her festival run on POP!, RENCONTRES PAYSANNES, and UNREAD. She was named the Kearny Street Workshop APAture Featured Artist in Film and a Directing Mentee in the Women in Film (WIF) Mentoring Program.

Alle was selected to be a resident in SFFILM FilmHouse Residency (2019-2020), to support the development of her feature QUEENS. QUEENS was also a Finalist for the Fall 2019 SFFILM Westridge Grant and the 2020 PGA Masters of Diversity Workshop, among other awards.

This year, Alle was a participant in the Cine Qua Non Lab Storylines Lab, developing the feature treatment for a story about her great-grandmother.
