Alejandro was born in San Jose, Costa Rica. He moved to North Carolina in 1985. A high school teacher encouraged his interest in black and white still photography.
After graduating from the Academy of Art - San Francisco, Alejandro worked in Los Angeles as a camera assistant, focus puller, operator, and cinematographer. His clients include Oracle, Microsoft, Toyota, and Disney.
He has photographed celebrities such as John Travolta, Rihanna, Halle Berry, and Kim Kardashian. Alejandro's work is featured at the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal. He was selected for the 2019 Official Latino Film and Arts Festival with his short film Slipping Into Darkness.
Alejandro became a 2023 finalist in the CDDP (Commercial Directors Diversity Program). The program aims to increase representation of minority and women directors. Alejandro believes in using light, shadow, and juxtaposition to reveal character subtleties through his work.
