Laura James is an award-winning filmmaker and television director who began her career as an actor and on-set acting coach. She has extensive experience in theater and directing, which she credits to years of improv and sketch comedy. Laura has participated in several prominent programs, including the CBS Director Program and the DGA Director Development Initiative.

She teaches directing at The American Film Institute and USC School of Cinematic Arts, and is an active member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), currently serving on its Women's Steering Committee.
